Located on a prominent residential street within a heritage zone in Christchurch, this two-storey medical centre has been designed to respond to the character of its surroundings while meeting contemporary healthcare needs.
Twin gabled roof forms reference traditional buildings along the street, with considered materiality and a restrained colour palette allowing the building to read as a collection of smaller forms that respect the established scale.
Setbacks align with neighbouring properties to maintain the rhythm of the streetscape, while low fencing enhances visibility and connection to the street.
The design carefully balances building and landscape, retaining space for trees and greenery. Parking is positioned discreetly out of sight, and pedestrian access is clearly defined. The result is a modern healthcare facility that thoughtfully blends heritage principles with functional design.
